 PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Taichung, Taiwan - June, 2021

Stella Matutina Girls’ High School is Taichung’s first official partner school with TVO ILC, the designated distance learning partner of Ontario, Canada’s Ministry of Education.

Stella Matutina Girls’ High School is focused on advancing their students’ academic English language skills to meet the needs of a globalized learning and working environment. The school’s grade 9 to 12 students can enrol in two academic English programs through TVO ILC: the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) FILM Dual Diploma program and the English Foundation Certificate program.

Both the FILM Dual Diploma high school program and the English Foundation Certificate program allow students to experience an international education in English through the world-renowned Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. They offer the advantages of a highly innovative and interactive digital learning platform with the benefits of a structured, local classroom environment to support student learning and ensure academic success. Both Ontario certified teachers as well as certified classroom facilitators at school support student learning. Students also receive personalized university planning advice from Ontario certified guidance counsellors, all while living and studying locally in Taiwan.

Borderless Education is the exclusive, official TVO ILC FILM program provider in Taiwan. “Stella Matutina Girls’ High School students can engage with a complete English learning environment while being able to continue to live at home with their families,” says Gary Lau, Borderless Education’s Program Manager. “This increases their level of family support while reducing the stresses and expenses related to studies abroad. The ability for students to study in Taiwan and through TVO ILC’s digital learning platform also provides stability amidst the unpredictability of COVID-19 travel advisories, restrictions, and local lock-downs.”

Stella Matutina Girls’ High School students in the FILM Dual Diploma program earn both the Ontario secondary school diploma (OSSD) and the Taiwan high school diploma. The diploma provides flexibility and strength to university applications, both locally in Taiwan or overseas.

The goal of the English Foundation Certificate program is to build academic English language proficiency, through language courses and subject area courses such as the arts, business, humanities, sciences, or mathematics. Students choose the courses that suit their interest and their future pathway goals.

“We are excited to expand TVO ILC’s offerings to the students of Taichung, with programs that are personalized to meet students’ learning goals,” adds Gary. “Stella Matutina Girls’ High School is dedicated to creating a high-calibre educational experience for their students, and we are proud to be a part of their journey.”

TVO ILC also has a long journey of educational excellence. They have been the distance learning partner of the Ontario Ministry of Education since 1926, and the largest high school in Ontario, with nearly 20,000 students annually.
